Ilya Levitin

Ilya started his spiritual journey by reading Carlos Castaneda. The message that stood out for Ilya was about living each day like if it was the last day on earth.

The tools of spirituality always helped Ilya to navigate through his own life's changes and challenges. Ilya was born in Moscow (Russia) and immigrated to the US at the age of 22. His first job as a cello player with the symphony orchestra took him to Spain. In Spain Ilya experienced his first calling to practice Kundalini Yoga and mediation. Upon returning to the US in 1998 Ilya met his spiritual teacher – Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati. Under the guidance of his Guru Ilya was initiated into Kundalini Yoga, Chakra Meditations and advanced Pranayama (breathing yogic technique) practices. Ilya was invited to play the cello to accompany Kirtan (devotional singing) during various workshops Ma Jaya was offering at the time.

Ilya's journey brought him to study with Derek O'Neil around 2010. Derek helped Ilya to cope with the biggest loss in Ilya's life – passing of his Guru Ma Jaya in 2012. Derek's teachings helps Ilya to stay aware and positive while facing everything life presents in any giving moment.

Ilya has been teaching cello for last 15 years and is an author of a unique strings method book. Ilya's ability to create very personal experience for each student in his classes brings 250-300 grade 3 and 4 students to his strings program every year.

Ilya took Derek's invitation to become Mum's List Legacy teacher with deep gratitude and sees it as an opportunity to share his own life experiences through love filled story that Kate and Singe brought to the world.

Ilya will include channeled/improvised cello music accompanying all meditations during each workshop that he offers.
